Hut Information
Hunger Mountain Hut is open year-round and located on Worcester Mountain Farm in Worcester, Vermont. It is nestled at the base of the Worcester Mountain Range, a 1/2 mile uphill from the Minister Brook Hut. The hut includes a wood-fired sauna and offers endless opportunities for epic adventures, quiet reflection. The land has several miles of hiking, mountain biking and ski trails. Additionally, the Worcester Mountain Farm is home to a holistic wellness practice that provides acupuncture and herbal medicine. Learn more about additional services here. Amenities include:

- Free access to all trails
- Groomed ski trails in the winter, hand and machine built mountain bike trails in the summer.
- Sleeps up to 8 guests—4 bunked queen mattresses; no pillows or linens provided. Just bring your sleeping bag.
- Kitchen with pots/pans/utensils/etc… (no running water, use stream or snowmelt for water. Always treat your water.)
- Propane stovetop for preparing meals (bring your own food)
- Wood stove for heat during cold months
- Enclosed outhouse for hut guests
The hut sleeps 8 guests. VT Huts members will receive a 15% discount using their custom member number. The reservation is for exclusive use of the entire hut for the night of your reservation. Individual beds cannot be reserved.
Rates
Weekday Rate – $200/night
Weekend/Holiday – $250/night
There is a two-night reservation minimum for weekends and the following holiday weeks:
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas / New Years
- Vermont School Winter Break
- Vermont School Spring Break
*All rates subject to Vermont Rooms and Meals Tax.
The hut is located about a mile from the parking area along a mostly uphill approach. Specific directions to the parking area and hut will be provided upon booking.
Worcester Mountain Farm is home to several miles of private biking and hiking trails, as well as its own network of groomed nordic trails. Groomed ski trails leave from the parking area and provide adventure and access to both the hut and throughout the land. On the south and west sides, this network is bordered by the Putnam State Forest and the Worcester Mountain Range where guests will find endless backcountry opportunities. If you leave Worcester Mountain farm and ascend onto state land, however, there is no cutting allowed and all state regulations for backcountry skiing and adventures apply.

Check-in/Out Times: Check-in anytime after 2:00 PM on your arrival date. Check-out no later than 12:00 PM on your departure date.
Heat: The cabin is heated with a wood stove; instructions are provided in the hut user manual. You should be comfortable operating a wood stove if you are reserving this cabin in the winter months. Guests are responsible for making their own fires; the cabin will likely not be warm when you arrive.
Lights: There are two battery-powered lanterns provided in the cabin. Please bring a headlamp or another light source as a backup.
Cooking: There is a propane cooktop (instructions on site) with four burners in the kitchen area for your convenience. There is no need to bring your own cooking device. Pots, pans, utensils, and other dishware for up to 10 people are also provided.
Trash: Pack out all trash. Please make sure there are no food scraps in any of the grey water you dump out. Use the screens provided. This is a leave-no-trace hut.
Sleeping: The hut sleeps 8 guests—four queen mattresses total. There is no need to bring a camping pad, though you should bring your sleeping bag or blanket(s). There are no linens provided.
Water: Water can be collected from the brook for cooking and drinking. All water obtained from the brook should be boiled if intended for drinking.
Toilet: There is an enclosed outhouse located next to the hut.
Phone: There is no phone on site, and cell coverage is non-existent.
Campfires: Campfires are only allowed in the designated fire pit. Campfires are only allowed when Vermont Fire Danger Forecast is designated as “LOW” For more information see https://anrmaps.vermont.gov/websites/firedanger/VermontFireDanger.jpg
Pets: Pets are not allowed at the hut. This is out of respect for those with pet allergies and for the safety of wildlife on the property.
Cancellations: Reservations canceled 15 days or more in advance will receive a 50% refund. Reservations canceled 14 days or fewer in advance are non-refundable.
