Hut Information

The Meadowlark Yurt is open for year-round use. Located at the base of Mt. Cobb, the Meadowlark Yurt sits on a 623-acre private parcel—complete with a lookout tower and miles of quiet forest to explore. Amenities include:

  • Sleeps up to four guests in the yurt—two bunk beds (four mattresses total), just bring your sleeping bag. Guests with parties larger than four are permitted to pitch a maximum of two tents on the property.
  • Indoor & outdoor kitchen with propane stovetop for preparing meals (bring your own food)
  • Pots, pans, utensils, etc. provided
  • No running water, use stream or snowmelt for water. Always treat your water.
  • Wood stove heat. Instructions provided, but you should be familiar with how to operate one.
  • Enclosed outhouse for hut guests
  • Solar powered lights & outlets for charging devices

The hut sleeps 4 guests. VT Huts members will receive a 15% discount using their custom member number. The reservation is for exclusive use of the entire hut for the night of your reservation. Individual beds cannot be reserved.

Weekday Rate – $95/night
Weekend/Holiday – $100/night

Summer Access: From the summer parking area, the yurt is a little less than 1-mile away beyond the gate. 

Winter Access: From the winter parking area, it is approximately a 1.5-mile snowshoe or ski on an ungroomed trail. Please plan accordingly. Directions provided after booking.

There are a number of activities right outside the door of the Meadowlark Yurt!

  • Hiking: Short hikes: 1 mile each to the Camel’s Hump Overlook & wooden swing (covered), Sugarbush overlook (open area) and Lookout Tower (fire tower-like metal structure at the summit of Mt. Cobb). Guests can feel free to explore logging roads and other paths.
  • Gravel biking: 1 mile along the main driveway from the parking area. Steeper Jeep trail .5 mile up from the Meadow to the Camel’s Hump Overlook
  • Mountain biking: Not yet, but WATA working on an internal MTB trail network
  • Low-angle skiing / snowshoeing: 1.5 miles from the lower parking turnout to the meadow, 1 mile from the meadow up each of the 3 main trails, and numerous logging roads throughout the property
  • Bouldering: Numerous wide rock faces
  • Birding

Check-in/Out Times: Check-in anytime after 2:00 PM on your arrival date. Check-out no later than 12:00 PM on your departure date.

Heat: The hut is heated with a wood stove. Please reference the operating instructions in hut.

Lights: There are solar powered lights and outlets for charging devices. Please bring a headlamp or battery-powered lantern as backup. No gas-powered lanterns.

Cooking: There is an indoor and outdoor kitchen with propane stovetop. There is no need to bring your own cooking device. Pots, pans, utensils, and other dishware are also provided.

Trash: This is a leave no trace yurt. Please pack out all of your trash and food scraps. For help packing in/out any period or personal hygiene products, we highly recommend YourYuckies.

Sleeping: The hut sleeps 4 guests—4 mattresses total (2 bunkbeds). There is no need to bring a camping pad, though you should bring your sleeping bag or blanket(s). There are no linens provided.

Water: There is no potable water supply. However, guests may filter/treat water from the stream behind the hut. When brook is frozen, please use snowmelt and reference instructions inside the hut.

Toilet: Guests may use the enclosed privy near the hut.

Phone: There is no phone on site, and cell coverage is spotty to non-existent.

Cancellations: Reservations canceled 15 days or more in advance will receive a 50% refund. Reservations canceled 14 days or less in advance are non-refundable.

Dogs: Well-behaved dog friends are welcome at Meadowlark Yurt with a non-refundable $10 cleaning fee. Dogs are not allowed on any furniture and you MUST clean up after your dog—pack-in/pack-out rules apply to our furry friends, as well. Dog waste MAY NOT be disposed of in privies. Be sure your dog is safe during hunting season by providing a blaze orange bandana or vest. Unless your dog can tolerate extremely cold temperatures, we suggest leaving your pet at home during winter months.
