Membership increases equity.
Our FOREST Program partners with school districts and other nonprofits to invite historically marginalized communities onto the trail and into our huts entirely free of charge. Outdoor educators lead workshops in sustainability, teamwork, and recreation over two days and two nights in the wilderness. Each weekend retreat costs about $2,000 and participants never pay. (Learn more here.)
Membership means miles.
Your membership enables trail building throughout the state, connecting communities and creating new points of access to recreation. Each foot of new trail costs $7.50 to construct. (Learn more about the Velomont here.)
Membership catalyzes conservation.
When complete, the Velomont project has potential to conserve up to 214,000 acres of land! This will not only guarantee public access to the network for generations to come, but also play a key role in protecting the valuable climate resilience corridor for species migration as temperatures rise.
Membership enables access.
Our huts and hostels (and outhouses!) are ADA accessible, encouraging recreationalists of all ages and abilities to play, and stay, in Vermont’s great outdoors. It costs approximately $12,000 to build an ADA accessible ramp into each hut.
